Together with a small indie team working across Kuwait, Europe and the North America, we were working on the project Deicide, when the funding for the game was cut short unexpectedly. When given a 2.5 month notice period, we were told we were allowed to do a game jam together. After a small break, we pooled together the talent we had (myself, a programmer, a 3d artist and an art director) and started work on The Queen's Gondola. In just 2 short months, we finished a complete project with roughly a 30 minute run time, that includes a gameplay and narrative experience. During this project I:

The team at Amber Isle are old colleagues from my time working in Northern Ireland, so I happily spent some of my time in 2023/2024 consulting with them on the game. A live service title I joined in 2020, I helped release the title in July 2021, and have since help it hit postive return on ad spend in 2023, and continuing to self sustainability in 2026. As a small team, there's very little I haven't helped out on with this title. I've mucked in on everything from team production, to HR, to buisness development, to marketing. I know more now about UA and paid ads than I ever set out to know. But together with the team, we have created a no crunch studio the releases every few months without fail, no pressure and high preformance.

Taking over in October 2019, I came on board That Silly Studio as the Producer to help the team finish off the game for release. This was my first instance of working with a team spread across the world, with members in NA, UK and OZ. The main ways I wrangled the crows were:

I joined InLifeSize halfway through production of 3 projects, and found a team struggling to organise and working through perpetual crunch. I ensured the release of Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare by cleaning up their act and made them a more well oiled and efficient team by:
Introducing the team to SCRUM and setting up a strict 2 week sprint system | Establishing an in house digital communication system for less interruption | Becoming the driving force behind a healthier work/life balance | Ultimately smoothing team organisation for the release of the Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare.
In 2016 I became chair of Games NI, at the time a fledgling organisation having only existed a year. Within the next 2 years, I worked in a voluntary capacity with the aim of improving not only the strength of the local industry and opportunities for local businesses, but also the stability and diversity within the businesses themselves. I became the driving force for an entire cluster by:
Undertaking research of other clusters to model our local industry development | Organising meet ups and workshops for developers in highlighted areas of weakness | Introducing investors to the area | Establishing an online presence for the cluster | Increasing membership by 100% | Ensuring the obtainment of the nationwide creative fund Future Screens | Working towards the establishment of a game development co-working incubation space that was later fulfilled by NI Screen and Donal Phillips.
Since moving back to Europe after 6 years of living in Canada, I was very excited to be asked as a mentor for the VAF group and Northern Ireland Screen. For Vaf, I have been working with them for around 6 months now, and have mentored two seperate groups on production best practices, and marketing basics respectively. For Northern Ireland Screen, I have conducted a 2 day workshop followed by 1-1 mentoring with several groups.
I am interested and available for more such mentoring in the near future.
Since returning to Europe, I have been in a position to share my knowledge with other developers in the form of public talks. So far I have focused on Production and accessbility at the Yorkshire Games Festival and Impact Day talks, but I would like to continue to share my 12+ years of knowledge on all areas of indie dev in the near future.
For two years I was a tutor on the Independent Video Game Design course at Dawson College, a 2 course designed to give the students all the tools they would need to become indie game developers. I taught primarily the introduction to video games unit, but I also assisted with marketing, production and design.
This role has to be one of my favourites in the last few years; I had the pleasure of being a part time lecturer at the Belfast Metropolitan College, initially to teach an intro to Game Design module, but quickly picking up 3 more modules in Advanced Game Design, Intro to storytelling in Games and Games Business. I made sure my students achieved their goals by:
Creating all learning material and resources based on the most up to date practices | Delivering modules to 80+ students across two classes and catering to individual special needs | Assessing/marking student assignments | Obtained the highest pass rate of the year - with a rate of 98% per class.
After years of teaching teenagers and working with public sector groups, I decided to try my hand at a private class with Blick Studios. This workshop series was targeted at everyone interested in film, from professionals seeking access into the industry, to hobbyists just looking for a bit of fun. Over the course of 6 weeks, I leveled up a group of 15 people by:
Teaching them the basics in film making techniques from lighting, camera skills, to how to edit and write a script | Giving them access to real equipment and allowing them to experiment with their craft | Filming an entire short as their final project | Giving such a good course that one of the members went on to work in television themselves!
The Directory was a company that I supported for over 7 years, initially assisting with workshops in media skills in underfunded community areas, in the hope of getting age 12-16 year olds interested in alternative activities, later leading into direct film editing and web development work. This only ended when the company itself closed its doors. Over the years I raised community groups to new heights by:
